BlueTie Wins Patent For Recognition Technology

Single-click technology seen as boon to groupware, unified messaging applications.

BlueTie announced that it has been awarded its first US Patent for its SimpleClick, Information Autocompletion system. The e-mail and collaboration development and services company's invention provides users with a name-driven, technology that facilitates electronic communication and collaboration.

The technology is driven by simple name recognition that allows BlueTie users to send an email message, schedule a meeting, or share information by simply clicking a "hot link" of the name of the person they wish to communicate with from a list of contacts. On the back end, the application recognizes that contact, recognizes the requested action, and then fills the field from a database record and transfers the appropriate information or message to that person in the correct context.

That means, for example, that all fields are filled in that will schedule a meeting, share a file, or just send an instant message or e-mail message, driven by one mouse click. "The implications of SimpleClick for future unified messaging and collaborative products are clear," said BlueTie CEO David Koretz, "users will not need to know any information about the person they are communicating with except their name -- the application will do the rest."
