Commtouch today announced that it has launched a new online statistical lab covering global spam outbreaks. The company is best known for its RPD anti-spam technology and Zero-Hour virus protection.

The Commtouch Spam Lab provides quite an array of information including such items as the number of spam outbreaks (with monthly, quarterly and annual breakdowns), a geographic breakdown of the origins of spam, and more. The Commtouch Spam Lab also includes a world map that shows emerging spam outbreaks in real-time, with detailed information such as distribution scale, speed and sources.

Commtouch Spam Lab data is based on information from the Commtouch Detection Center, which filters some 1.5 Billion messages a month. Commtouch's network-based approach to spam detection is said to provide scientifically accurate and reliable data on emerging outbreaks in real-time.
